| Physical Description: | The bulldog is a stocky breed with large thick shoulders. The head of the Bulldog is also large with thick, loose skin. The folds of skin are prominent on the brow and sides of the face, hanging down, giving it a jowley appearance. The Bulldog's muzzle is short and wide, with a lower jaw that frequently juts forward, exposing the the lower teeth giving it a deceivingly fierce look. The size of a Bulldog male is generally around 50 pounds with the female Bulldog being slightly smaller. Bulldog tails are naturally short and curly, but are some times cropped. Occasionally, a Bulldog is forced to surrender it's for medical reasons. Some Bulldog tails curl in such a way that blocks their ability to properly relieve themselves. I'll refrain from graphic details. |
| Breed Origins: | The bulldog, also known as the English Bulldog, originally comes from England as the name implies. Their early use was in the unsportsmanly sport of bullbaiting. |
| Breed Personality: | While a Bulldog looks a bit fierce and "bullish", they tend to be friendly and outgoing. Bulldogs get along well with people, including children as well as other pets. Bulldogs do have their stubborn streaks, but are fairly easy to train. |
| Misc: | The Bulldog is one of the most popular dog caricatures. The Bulldog is the mascot of the United States Marine Corps, Yale University and countless other universities and high schools. |
