Australian Red Merle Shepherd Information

Find out some basic information about Australian Red Merle Shepherds. Physical Description:	Australian Shepherds come in four colors: Liver, black, red merle and blue merle. No matter which color of Australian Shepherd you have, most like the chest and possibly the belly will be while. The tail of the Australian Shepherds are short, usually docked while they're puppies. Australian Shepherds stand between 18-23 inches and usually weigh between 40-60lbs.
Breed Origins:	Despite the name, the Australian Shepherd didn't originate in Australia. The roots of this herding breed began in Spain and were later refined in North America in the 1800-1900s.
Breed Personality:	The Australian Shepherd is very intelligent and enjoys learning tricks. Because of its high intelligence and energy they require lots of attention and distractions. Some Australian Shepherds will bond to just one or two select individuals and become wary of anybody outside its pack. Australian Shepherds are most at home on farms and ranches where they can keep busy and are not recommended for city living.
Misc:	This breed is suited to ranch or farm life, or at least homes with large backyards. Apartment living is not recommended for Australian Shepherds.
